Our chickens are raised on pastures throughout the year. We supplement this natural grass-based diet with local certified organic feed. They also consume vegetable scraps from the garden beds and local organic farms. During the colder winter months, they are fed a warm mash of herbs and grains first thing in the morning. If grass forage is not available due to snow, they are fed hay. These hens are also put into the crop rotations post harvest, greatly reducing the weeds and insect pests.
At present, our eggs can be found at the Kings Park Farmers Market on Sundays from 9 am to 2 pm. Both Ann Marie’s Farmstand and Rustic Roots Delivery carry Jen’s Hens eggs!
If fresh eggs are not available from a local farm in your area, consider keeping your own chickens. We would be happy to answer any questions and provide comments and suggestions about keeping your own flock.
